2 Tropical Cyclones Expected To Enter PH This Month, PAGASA Says

The state weather bureau said that at least two tropical cyclones are expected to hit the Philippines this month of May.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that one or two tropical cyclones are expected to enter the country this month despite the forecast of hotter temperatures.

One to two cyclones normally enters the country every month of May based from the weather agency’s date since 1948 to 2016, according to Ana Liza Solis, the officer in charge of PAGASA’s climate monitoring and prediction section.

Solis explained that some of the cyclones entering the country usually made landfall over Luzon or recurved.

PAGASA also said that there will be a greater number of rainy days in some parts of the country despite the hotter temperature predictions this summer.

“There will be more wet days this May, especially over the western section of Luzon,” Solis said quoted by Philstar.

She also said that most parts of the Philippines might experience normal rainfall, while La Niña condition over the Pacific Ocean was already “decaying.”
