Earthquake Hits Ilocos Norte, Sultan Kudarat, PHIVOLS Says

The Philippine volcanology agency PHIVOLCS announced that Ilocos Norte and Sultan Kudarat have been struck by an earthquake.

On Wednesday (May 02, 2018), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) announced that the provinces of Ilocos Norte and Sultan Kudarat were shaken by a strong tremor.

Around 2:16 am, a magnitude 3.1 earthquake has struck the town of Adams in Ilocos Norte.

The tremor was located 22 kilometers east of Adams with a depth of 15 kilometers. The quake was tectonic in origin.

Meanwhile, a magnitude 3.0 earthquake has also struck the town of Palimbang in Sultan kudarat.

The quake happened around 2:26 am also on Wednesday and located around 175 kilometers South of Palimbang. The tremor has a depth of 337 kilometers and tectonic in origin.

Phivolcs explained that there is no damage has been recorded yet due to the two earthquakes that struck Ilocos Norte and Sultan Kudarat.
