Pinay OFW Who Suffered Severe Burns From Abusive Saudi Employer Returns Home
A Pinay Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who suffered severe burns at the hands of her abusive Saudi Employer has finally returned to the country.
On Friday (April 13, 2018), the Philippine Ambassador to Riyadh Adnan Alonto accompanied the Pinay OFW Pahima Alagasi on her repatriation and arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Rep. Aniceto Bertiz III of ACTS-OFW party-list and officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Department of Labor and Employment met Alagasi and Alonto at the airport.
The 26-year-old OFW has finally returned home after her abusive Saudi employer doused her with boiling water.
The Pinay migrant worker ran away from her employer while undergoing treatment at the Raseel Medical Center.
Alagasi stayed at the Bahay Kalinga shelter of the Philippine embassy in Riyadh for four years.
In March 2014, the OFW Pikit in North Cotabato to work in Saudi as a domestic helper.
The Saudi employer has filed a counter-complaint and a claim for $66,000 or P3, 435, 960 in damages.
Alagasi’s two children would receive scholarships up to college, according to OWWA chief Hans Leo Cacdac.
The Pinay worker also expressed her gratitude towards President Duterte and other officials who helped her to go back to the country.
DFA will give P50, 000 cash assistance to Alagasi.
