PH Gov’t Set To Launch The First-Ever Emergency Warning Broadcast System
The Philippine government was set to launch the first-ever Emergency Warning Broadcast System (EWBS) in the country, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar said.
Presidential Communication Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar said in an interview that the EWBS will be launched by the government station PTV4 on the third week of March.
The Emergency Warning Broadcast System will make the transmission of information in the different area of Metro Manila easier and faster during calamities and disasters.
EWBS will user a TV frequency, which could alarm or send warning system in numerous communities in times of typhoon, earthquake, and other catastrophic events.
Andanar also explained that importance of this system because the Philippines was under the Pacific Ring of Fire and a typhoon-prone country.
The local government was also planning to oblige the manufacturer of digital TV receiver to comply with EWBS.
