Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu Found Something Disturbing In Boracay Wetlands

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu discovered something disturbing in Boracay wetlands during his inspection.

Cimatu has conducted an inspection at the wetland of Boracay Island and discovered a soil dump in the area.

The soil dump found in one of the wetlands of Boracay allegedly came from a construction site of a huge resort.

The environment secretary explained that dumping of soil is prohibited in the area and suspected that the construction may have blocked the flow of water in the wetland area.

DENR has already issued show-cause orders to 842 structures in the forest land area for allegedly committing violations.

Different business establishments, which received the notice of violation have initiated voluntary demolition and closure.

The environment department has also posted the photos of Puka Beach before and after the demolition of illegal structures erected in the area.

Meanwhile, as the summer season approaches the presence of algae can already be seen, which is a natural event but the massive algal bloom is not normal for it indicates a high waste output.
