Country’s Top Tourist Destination Boracay Ranked As 2nd Top Beaches In Asia Despite Environmental Issue
Boracay, the country’s top tourist spot ranked 2nd out of 25 top beaches in Asia for the year 2018 despite its environmental issue.
The popular Boracay Island is now facing a lot of issues and controversies over alleged violation of environmental rules and regulations.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said that over 800 establishment at the country’s top tourist destination commits violation for having no permit and failing to comply the environmental requirements.

Two aides of President Rodrigo Duterte were pushing a 60-day total closure of business establishments in Boracay for rehabilitation but several business groups opposed the proposal.
President Duterte had also threatened to close Boracay and ordered an urgent clean-up throughout the entire island.
Recently, the international booking site “TripAdvisor” has acknowledged the Boracay Island as 2nd out of 25 beaches in Asia.

TripAdvisor’s 2018 Traveler’s Choice Awards still recognized the almost-paradise island as one of the best beaches in Asia despite the island’s garbage problem.
The travel site was boasting fine white sand, amazing sunsets, vibrant nightlife and abundant water sports of Boracay.

“Boracay is the Perfect white sand beach our family has ever visited,” TripAdvisor said quoted by Philstar.
