Bagyong Basyang Latest Weather Update

The state weather bureau PAGASA has released the updates about Tropical Storm Sanba, which was locally named Bagyong Basyang.

On Monday (February 12, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Bagyong Basyang has slightly slowed down before dawn.

The weather disturbance was last spotted at 690 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, moving west-northwest at 25 kilometers per hour (kph), according to PAGASA.

Bagyong Basyang has sustained maximum winds of 65 kph and could gusts up to 80 kph prompting the weather agency to raise tropical storm warning signal in different areas in the country.

PAGASA also warned the residents living in the affected areas to be alert and prepare for possible flash floods and landslides due to heavy rain brought by the storm.

On Tuesday morning (February 13, 2018), the tropical storm is expected to make a landfall in Caraga Region and will cross Northern Mindanao and Palawan as well.

The weather agency also reported that Bagyong Basyang would exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday (February 16, 2018).
