Magandang Buhay hosts Karla Estrada, Melai Cantiveros-Francisco and Jolina Magdangal defended renowned local band, “Aegis” for being tagged as “baduy.”
Earlier, the band which has been in the mainstream for more than 20 years already, disclosed during their guest appearance on the show that many find them unhip.
It was just in 2015 when Aegis held its first ever major concert. The group popularized some of the hit singles including; “Basang-Basa Sa Ulan,” “Sayang Na Sayang,” “Sinta,” “Luha,” and “Halik.”
“Kasi nga di ba kasi sa atin sinasabi nila ang mga kanta niyan baduy. Kasi ‘yun talaga ang nakatatak sa kanila. Pero sa amin naman okay lang yon, walang problema kung isipin nilang baduy kami, pero doon naman kami kumikita,” said Juliet Sunot, one of the vocalists of Aegis.
Meanwhile, the Magandang Buhay hosts defended the local band over the uncool tag.
“Actually hindi baduy ang kanta niyo. Rock and roll. Hello? Sa isang parte ng buhay na dinaanan mo naranasan mo ang lyrics ng mga kanta ng Aegis. Huwag niyo kaming charcharin,” said Karla.
“At saka ‘yung mga nagko-concert ngayon, hindi puwedeng walang Aegis sa line-up ng kanta nila,” Jolina added.
“Sino ang nagsabing baduy?! Kay ikaw ang baduy! Mag-Araneta sila, manonood kaming mga momshie. Kay nagalit na ako,” Melai, on the other hand, said.
“Mag-Araneta kayo, maniwala kayo sa sariil niyo. Ang daming Visaya dito sa Maynila, sa parte sa Mindanao, lilipad ‘yan dito. Manood na tayo sa Araneta next year,” she added.
