Glory Alonzo, 16-Year-Old Pitcher From Bacolod City Leads Philippines To Finals

The 16-year-old pitcher from Bacolod City leads the Philippines to the finals of the 17 and under competition, she was also entitled as MVP.

Glory Alonzo, a student of Domingo Lacson National High School in Bacolod City the Philippine softball team to the finals of the 2017 Pacific School Games after throwing nine strikeouts.

Alonzo leads the team with a score of 3-2 semi-final win against Queensland after she pitched to catcher Chastine Jover in every game for their undefeated team on their first trip to Australia.

Head coach Russel Hulleza can’t contain the happiness on the performance of her members at the 10th edition of the Games leading them to victory.

“I think it’s a good team now and we are going to prepare for the championship game. They are adjusting to the weather now that it’s warm again. Yes, it’s been a really good Games, the kids are having fun of course and it’s a good atmosphere, our pitcher has been a real key for the team,” said by Hulleza.

Hulleza also revealed that her team was having a training every day and also studying at the same time.

Philippine Sports Commission Charles Maxey said that most players in the team usually bags silver medals for the Philippines at the Little League Softball World Series in the United States last year, including Alonzo who will pitch in the final.
