Miss Universe Organization would want the Philippines to host the pageant again.
The organization of the Miss Universe would want the Philippines to host the prestigious pageant once again.
Miss Universe is one of the major international beauty pageants and the most prestigious held annually gathering gorgeous women from the different parts of the globe.
The candidates are to compete against each other vying for the crown and the entitlement.
This pageant is run by the Miss Universe Organization.
The current Miss Universe is Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa who was crowned on 26 November 2017 by Iris Mittenaere of France in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
And now according to a report from the GMA News, the organization would like to have the Philippines as their host again.
The Tourism Secretary, Wanda Teo, even said that the country is set to host this year’s competition but the President Rodrigo Duterte refused to allow in order to give way to the 31st ASEAN Summit.
Teo said, “They went back to us months after and said that they wanted again for us to host the Miss Universe this year, so of course I have to ask the President first, kung puwede. He said ‘wag muna this year because of ASEAN.”
And for the next pageant, in 2018, the Tourism Secretary is yet to ask the permission of the president.
“Kasi parang the same month din, ASEAN first week and then Miss Universe last week, so sabi ni President ‘wag muna, maybe next time, maybe next year, we will have a cabinet meeting. I will have to ask again.”
DOT Undersecretary Kat de Castro also stated that until today, the organization dubbed the Philippine pageant is yet the best up to date.
“Teo said the Miss Universe pageant helped with the tourism influx which increased, up by 11 percent, despite the martial law and Resorts World [incident.] Naitawid pa rin namin.”
The last time the Philippines hosted the pageant was when Pia has “turned over her crown to Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere.
