Sara Duterte-Carpio To Shut Down Mindanao’s Tallest Building For This Reason

Sara Duterte-Carpio Threatened Take Down Mindanao’s Tallest Building

The Davao City Mayor and presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio has threatened to shut down Mindanao’s tallest building for this reason.

On Tuesday (October 24, 2017), a 5-day ultimatum was given by Sara Duterte to Aeon Towers developer FTC Group of Companies to follow the government’s order to lower down their crane mounted at the top of the 33-storey building.

The crane at the top of the supposed tallest skyscraper in Mindanao was reportedly obstructing the air traffic in the area, prompting the Mayor Carpio to them an ultimatum.

“If they won’t lower the crane, I will never allow to open their building. They will never be allowed to do business in Davao City,” said by Sara Duterte quoted by Rappler.

The developer of Aeon Towers was using the boom crane to complete the construction of the building, which is expected to be finished before 2018. The condominium project was amounting P3.1 billion and expected to be the tallest building in Mindanao.

Earlier this year, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has sent a request to the FTC Group of Companies to lower their cranes after the pilots of commercial airlines point out that the equipment obstructs the air traffic and causing delays.

The 33-storey project sits about 7 kilometers only away from the Davao International Airport.

The officials tackled the issue at the City Council together with the project manager Engineer Buboy Espinosa. The officials learned that FTC did not take immediate action regarding the issue after receiving the notice from CAAP.

Sara Duterte said that if FTC could not remove their crane on city’s 5-day ultimatum, she will ask DPWH to demolish the crane.
