Filipinos Living in Florida Prepare Ahead Of Hurricane Irma Expected Landfall
The Filipinos residing in Florida have already prepared ahead before the devastating Hurricane Irma strikes as they fear for their lives.
The monster Hurricane Irma that causes severe damage in the Caribbean is now heading to the Southeast coast of the United States. It has maximum sustained winds of 260 kilometers per hour and is moving west at 20 kph.
The US National Hurricane Center said that the super typhoon has a maximum-strength Category 5 that made a landfall on Camaguey, Archipelago on Friday (September 08, 2017).
Filipino families living in Florida away from the mandatory evacuation zone have prepared for the upcoming wrath brought by Hurricane Irma. While most of the Filipino-Americans have already evacuated to safer grounds.
Most Pinoys have already stocked up on supplies, board up their homes, and assure the safety of their vehicle two days before the expected landfall of the hurricane. Some people also plan to stay inside the safe space in the airport.
“There are those who are planning to stay on the safer side of the airport because they have nowhere to go, hotels are all booked up. The airport is providing them a safe space,” said by Tagala quoted by ABS-CBN.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) was closely monitoring the situation in the Florida as members of the Filipino community were advised to stay inside their homes, according to Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella.
