Netizen Criticized The Photo Of Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog Carrying Cross
The photo of Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog while carrying the cross draws flak from the netizens in the social media.
Jed Patrick Mabilog, the mayor of Iloilo City is now facing numerous issues and controversies regarding his controversial “White House” mansion, which was allegedly amounting P70 million and built from ill-gotten wealth.
The allegations against Mabilog came after President Rodrigo Duterte tagged him as one of the narco-politicians in the Philippines. The president was also suspecting the mayor as the protector of the drug syndicate in the province.
President Duterte also assigned Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido as the police chief of Iloilo City to put an eye to Mabilog. Espenido was the police officer leading the team involved in the killings of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. and Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr.
Recently, the photo of Mayor Mabilog while carrying the cross in front of the public during the Holy Week draw criticisms from the social media users. The netizens have interpreted it as a tactic of the politician to earn the sympathy of the people.
The netizens were condemning Mabilog for allegedly not worthy to lift the cross without sincerity on his face. Some say that he only did it before the May 2016 elections to earn the sympathy of the public as a part of his campaign strategy.
