Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog Reveals Truth About His Controversial Mansion
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog reacts to the allegations regarding his controversial mansion and said that his house is not a mansion.
Jed Mabilog, the mayor of Iloilo City is among the list of narco-politicians after President Rodrigo Duterte accused him of being involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province, but he denied all the allegations against him.
President Duterte has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to check the lifestyle of Mabilog, who accused of being involved in illegal activities.
Recently, there are some reports revealing that the “White House” mansion of Mabilog was amounting about P50 to P70 million that allegedly built from ill-gotten wealth, which contradicts his declaration that it only cost P3 million based on his 2014 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).
Mayor Mabilog and his wife Marivic insisted that it was built from the fruit of their labor. The city mayor also even explained that his wife worked as an accountant in Canada for 21 years, while he was an entrepreneur before becoming a politician.
Mabilog also explained that their house next to Iloilo River Park was not a mansion and only measuring approximately 200 square meters.
“The land or compound on which our circa 1800’s ancestral home stands was inherited and the house was built on a more or less 200 sq meter portion. It is not as big as pictures would make it appear,” said by Mabilog quoted by Philstar.
Meanwhile, President Duterte has already assigned Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido as the new police chief of Iloilo City to put an eye on Mabilog, who was linked with illegal drug activities.
