Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog’s Controversial Mansion Allegedly Worth P70M
The truth about the controversial mansion of Iloilo Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog allegedly worth P70 million, which he denied came from ill-gotten wealth.
President Rodrigo Duterte tagged Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog as one of the narco-politicians and a drug syndicate protector. Iloilo was also dubbed as the “most shabulized” city here in the Philippines due to proliferations of illegal drugs.
Recently, Senior Inspector Jovie Espenido was assigned by President Duterte as the police chief of Iloilo City to put an eye to Mabilog. The city mayor expressed fear for the safety of his family since Espenido was behind the killings of top drug personalities in the country such as Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa and Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog.
Mabilog also denied all the allegations against him after he had enriched himself since he became the city mayor last 2010. He also denied that their mansion next to the Iloilo river park was built from ill-gotten wealth.
In 2015, Manuel “Boy” Mejorada, a critic of Mayor Mabilog exposed the details about the mansion, which was declared to be amounting only P3 million in 2014 on his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth.
Architects and engineers estimated that the value of the white house was amounting P50 to P70 million. The windows alone, which was made up of expensive Kenner and Mock glass windows are worth P7 million.
The mansion was the focus of graft and plunder cases filed by Mejorada before the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas against Mabilog.
Mejorada also doubted that Marivic Mabilog, the wife of Iloilo City Mayor spent mainly for the construction of the house, where she worked in Canada as an accountant for 21 years.
Atty. Joenar Pueblo, Mabilog’s lawyer declines the allegations against his client and said that they have the documents to prove its innocence.
