As per the report posted by The Visayan Daily Star on their Facebook page, as a responsive action the lighting requirement of the FIFA to host the international football games, a P40 million budget was set for the lightings of the field.

Thus, the Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa why so and indicated that the existing lights at the football field were only 600 to 700 lumens. And for that matter, lights were also deteriorating.

The lumens also does not conform to the international standard of 1,300 to 1,400 lumens set by FIFA.

Mapa said, “There were complaints from the players during the previous games about the lights at the Panaad. We need to conform to the standard set by FIFA to continue hosting international competitions.”

The P40 million appropriated budget by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is said to be used to purchase “four poles with flood lights that will get rid of unnecessary shadows and illuminate the field like it’s daytime.”

The existing ones or the old ones are accordingly transferred from the Pag-laum Football Field to the Panaad Stadium several years ago and when the new lightings will come, the old will be sent to the football field in Sagay.

Furthermore, Mapa explained, “An additional P10 million budget has been approved by the SP to pull out the old lights from Panaad and its installation in Sagay Football Field.”

It is because the Provincial Engineer’s Office “does not have the equipment and the expertise to install these lights.”
