Military Official Announced Mindanao State University In Marawi City Now Ready For Reopening
The Mindanao State University (MSU) is now ready for reopening on August 22, 2017, after it has been temporarily closed due to Marawi crisis.
On Friday (August 18, 2017), Major Jessrex Molina, head of the Joint Task Force Tabang Marawi said that the state-run Mindanao State University in Marawi City is ready for reopening next semester.
MSU has been temporarily closed for nearly three months due to the extended battle between the government troops and the ISIS inspired Maute Terror Group, which displaced around 400, 000 residents.
The sporadic firefight between the militaries and the extremists have prompted President Rodrigo Duterte to declare martial law throughout the entire region of Mindanao, which is now extended until the end of the year.
Previously, the military confined the conflict zone in the beleaguered city of Marawi into two and a half village, which gives to the residents and militaries that the crisis in the besieged city might nearly end.
Molina’s statement came after the completion of the “Brigada Eskwela” conducted by the joined forces of Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, local officials, and other institutions.
The volunteers from various sectors have helped to clean up the area, repaint the classrooms, and repaired buildings.
“Despite what happened, the school’s stakeholders are hopeful everything would go back to its normal state. This is why we’re here to help the school,” said by Molina quoted by GMA.
The military official also said that they assure that the school won’t be damaged during their battle with the extremists because they know how important the school for residents of Marawi.
