Jim Paredes ‘Thanks’ Duterte Over Signing Law For Free Tuition Fee in SUCs

Veteran singer-songwriter Jim Paredes “thank” President Rodrigo Duterte for signing the law for free tuition fee in state universities and colleges.

On Friday, Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Menardo Guevarra announced during the Mindanao Hour held at Conrad Manila that Duterte has approved the promulgation of free tuition fee in SUCs.

According to Republic Act 110931, otherwise known as “Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act,” the law grants free tuition fee in SUCs.

Meanwhile, Jim Paredes, a known critic of the president went to the micro-blogging site, Twitter wherein he thank Duterte over signing law for free education.

Paredes also thank Senator Bam Aquino, the author behind free tuition fee law.

He recognized the two for “cooperation, inclusivity, good intentions make things possible.”

Jim Paredes, who’s a member of Apo Hiking Society, is popular to many particular to netizens as a critic of Duterte.

He previously criticized Duterte following his declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao due to the ongoing clash of the government force and the ISIS-backed Maute group in Marawi City.

And recently, Jim Paredes called out the president over his controversial remark.

The 72-year-old President has been known as someone who is fond of cracking jokes even in the midst of serious speeches.
