The evacuees who found safe refuge in Boracay leaves Marawi City because of the deafening gun battle between the Maute Group and government forces, which turned the entire city into a chaotic scenery.

The sporadic firefight between the government troops and the terrorists started when the militaries raided the hideout of Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon who was also dubbed as Amir of ISIS.

Hapilon allegedly calls for reinforcement from Maute Group who fought back the government forces in Marawi City, which caused the ongoing conflict in the province. As of now, the entire Mindanao region is under martial law as declared by President Rodrigo Duterte.
