5 People Died After Electrocuted At Water Park

Five people including a 58-year-old man, his son, and 3 children died after being electrocuted in the pool at a water park.

On Friday (June 23, 2017), a total of five people were electrocuted at a water park in the town of Akyazi, in Sakarya province, northwest Turkey. The victims were identified as the park’s 58-year-old manager and his 30-year-old son after trying to save the three children.

According to some reports, the three children were caught up in an electrical current in the pool. The park’s manager together with his son immediately jumped into the pool attempting to save the youngsters.

Electrocuted

The water park employees, which 150 kilometers east of Istanbul cut the power at the resort to save the five people from the electrocutions.

The five victims of electrical shock were immediately rushed to the hospital in Akyazi, but it was already too late for the medical experts to save them. The youngsters who died in the incident were aging 12, 15, and 17 years old.

Two other people were injured after touching the metal railings near the pool. The authorities were already investigating the incident and trying to figure out what cause the electrocutions.

Electrocuted

The private Dogan news agency reported that the park lacked a residual current breaker that shuts down the power to prevent electrical shocks. Their video footage also shows numerous ambulances waiting outside the water park.
