The former environment Secretary stressed in the caption that the policy that she made which bans the open pit mining ‘must stay’.

According to her, there should no going on with the human lives at risk and the people should safeguard the lives of the next generations.

The 10 photos posted on the social media page showed the following open pits which can be found in the following places: Sipalay, Negros Occidental; Basay, Negros Oriental, Placer, Surigao del Norte; San Marcelino, Zambales; Itogon, Benguet; Puerto Princesa City; Hinabangon, Samar; Sta. Cruz, Marinduque; Dasol, Pangasinan; and Mogpog, Marinduque.

The post went viral on the social media. It has already reached more than one thousand shares on the online platform and lots of netizens dropped comments to the post.

According to a Facebook user, she can’t believe that the government let go a person like the former DENR Secretary. She expressed her thought that ‘change is coming’.

“Ibang change pala,” the netizen stated on her comment.

One netizen expressed his thanks over including Marcopper Disaster History. According to him, it will open their people’s eyes and ears on what was done by foreign firms to Marinduque province.

A netizen expressed in his comment to the post that if the policy of Lopez banning the open pit mining would be reversed, there will be big protests.

Lots of people expressed their support on the stand of former environment Sec. Lopez and many even praised her.

Based on a previous news report, lots were really saddened with the decision of the panel of Commission on Appointments (CA) to reject her appointment as the DENR Secretary.
