RACHEL AMESTOSO – Bisaya netizen Rachel Amestoso expressed her side regarding the alleged discrimination faced by the people who are from Visayas.
Recently, a post of Rachel Amestoso caught the attention of the netizens on the social media as she expressed her reaction to those alleged claims that the results of the November 2016 bar examination “smell fishy”.
In the viral post, Rachel raised that people claim that it is not possible that none of the top 10 bar exam passers came from a university in Luzon. She stated that some people link it to the idea that the President is a Bisaya.
“People say bisaya people passed because the questions were in bisaya. People say that we must expect a breed of low quality lawyers from now on… I know where this is coming from,” she stated in her post.
According to the netizen, in the television, people who are from the Visayas were always given the role of a house helper. People find their native language funny and the way the Bisaya people speak.
Rachel shared in her post a personal experience wherein she heard two people talking in a salon. Based on the post, one of the women expressed that the other woman can save if she will get a Bisaya to be her house maid.
The other woman responded that her kids do not want a Bisaya. In response, the woman expressed an advice to let the Bisaya house maid eat and sleep in the kitchen as they do the same to their yaya.
Rachel also shared her personal experiences and the discrimination she faced when she enrolled in a Luzon-based university and had a boyfriend from the Tagalog race.
“I don’t get it. Pag topnotchers from a Visayas based university, smells fishy agad pero pag topnotchers na bisaya pero from a Luzon based university, okay lang?” she stated in her post.
The netizen said in her post that there are lots of schools in Visayas that hone “excellent and competitive students”. The netizen told the Tagalog people who discriminate the people coming from Visayas that they overlooked the fact that they are not superior.
“You try so hard to appear bigger you ended up inhaling too much air inside,” she stated.
The netizen stated in her post that the people should be happy that the people honed by the universities in Visayas perform well as it is an indication that the education systems are doing well.
Based on a previous news report, the topnotcher of the recent bar exam is a graduate of University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu City, Karen Mae Calam. There were also other USC graduates who were included in the Top 10.
