CA Rejects Lopez’s DENR Appointment, VACC Has Question For Duterte

The VACC expressed their side on the rejection of Lopez’s appointment.

VACC – The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption reacted on the rejection of Gina Lopez’s appointment as the secretary of Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Based on a recent report in ABS-CBN News, the founding chairman of the VACC spoke regarding the rejection of the appointment of Gina Lopez.

Lopez’s appointment has recently been rejected by a panel of the Commission on Appointments (CA).

In an interview with DZMM,  VACC’s founding chairman Dante Jimenez said that Gina Lopez is a “passionate fighter for the protection” of the country’s natural resources.

He said that they believe in Lopez who has a passion and a stand.

Jimenez shared that he is a mariner and the founding chairman of Philippine Marine Environment Protection.

“Dun kami nagkakadikit ni Gina,” said the VACC founding chairman.

Based on the interview, they were saddened by the decision of the CA over the appointment of Lopez as DENR Secretary.

“Mananawagan kamiu kay Presidente na bilang Chief Executive… na paano po mare-retain si Gina,” he said according to the report.

The VACC founding chairman expressed in the interview that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte fights the same battle with that of Lopez.

According to him, there is a possibility that they will suggest to the President to do something about the matter. He said that it already depends to Pres. Duterte.

Based on a previous news report, only nine members voted in support for the confirmation of Lopez as the secretary of DENR.

Those who supported her confirmation were  Sens. Vicente Sotto, Ralph Recto, Manny Pacquiao, Loren Legarda, JV Ejercito, Bam Aquino, Franklin Drilon, and Francis Pangilinan and Rep. Sandy Ocampo.

On the other side, four senators and 11 representatives were against Lopez’s appointment as DENR secretary.
