Senator Sotto’s apalling remark to the single parents had made round of noises on social media and takes revenge on her daughter instead.

SINGLE PARENTS – The appalling remark of the Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III had gone to the online community and netizens takes it back to his daughter, Ciara Sotto.

As been reported by the Rappler, the senator had insulted the Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo for being a single mother by stating, “In the street language, when you have children and you are single, ang tawag do’n ay na-ano lang (we call that you just got knocked up).”

That was during the confirmation hearing of the DSWD Secretary prompted by soft laughter from the audience.

With these, Secretary Taguiwalo replied, “Senator Sotto, I teach women’s studies. We respect all kinds of families and that includes solo parents. Thank you.”

This confrontation had gathered disappointments and dismay from the online community.

Clearly, by the senator’s remark, the secretary has been shamed in public.

Because of anger,  the netizens takes it back to his daughter, his own flesh and blood.

Some of  the aggressive comment from the netizen stated:

However, there were also who defended Ciara Sotto, like Raphael Phoebus Ubales saying, “May I  request everyone to please stop dragging Ciara Sotto in her father’s mess. If we make memes,  call her names, and such, how are we different from Tito Sotto?”

The malicious comments from the netizens were unstoppable but the senator’s daughter remained silent about the issue and the cyber bullying she has gone through because of her father’s appalled comment towards the single parents.

Because of this controversy, other big celebrities like Leah Salonga and Pokwang could not help but to also stretch out reactions about  the matter.

Tito Sotto had already issued his apology regarding as to what he did.
