Hong Kong Couple Nabbed For Fighting Over Restaurant Bill
A couple in Hong Kong was arrested for fighting over splitting the payment for the restaurant bill after eating dinner and drinking.
On Sunday (April 23, 2017), a report said that a pair was arrested at a Japanese barbecue restaurant located in Hong Kong’s King Wah Centre was arrested after fighting over an argument on paying the restaurant bill.
Wong, a 38-year old woman, and Yung, a 37-year-old man arrived at the restaurant around 7:54 pm for a dinner lasted more than 3 hours, according to the restaurant management. The pair has also ordered 3 bottles of sake, 3 gl(–foul word(s) removed–) of beer and soft drinks.
Their food was only amounting HK$700, but the beverages cost nearly HK$1, 200 with extra charges, which causes the bill to came a roughly HK$2, 135.10. The man has suggested splitting the bill, but the woman refused and handed him only HK$500 note, which triggered the argument.
After the heated exchange of arguments, the man tore he bank-note, which led to a physical altercation. The female diner has immediately reported the incident to the authorities. Yung was arrested for assault occasioning bodily harm, while Wong has been arrested for common assault.
Yung suffered from nose injuries, while Wong had limb injuries due to the incident, which triggered discussion in the social media. There are some netizens joking that the pair pretended to fight to avoid paying the bill.
Some social media users also commented that the man should not bring the woman in a restaurant he cannot afford.
