Thousands of students may not graduate in Iloilo City.

ILOILO CITY – Due to unpaid scholarships, thousands of graduating students of seven schools of Northern Iloilo State University may not graduate.

Based on a recent social media post on the Facebook page RMN Iloilo, the NISU President, Dr. Teresita Palmares, expressed that the unpaid account of former Congressmen Niel “Jun-Jun” Tupas in his ‘Iskolar Sang Quinto’ program reached almost P80-million for the seven campuses of the said university.

Moreover, it is stated that under the said scholarship program, half of the tuition will be funded by the program and half of it will be shouldered by the student.

According to Dr. Palmares, the former Congressman was not able to pay from 2013 until 2016. Due to it, thousands of ISQ scholars should pay P24 thousand each so that their requirements can be given by the university.

The social media post has elicited various reactions from the netizens.

According to one netizen, that is what really happens when they already got what they need. He advised those who are also in Quinto just like him not to be swayed again by the sweet words of the politicians.

“Bsan Cn.o GRU ga amar mn sng maiban sa tuition nga 3k qng mka sulod ka sa ISQ program kaso wla gli yah nbydan..ei d wow,” stated one netizen in his comment.

[Anyone would want a three thousand pesos deduction once you became a scholar in the ISQ program. It’s just that it was not paid.]

One netizen expressed in her comment that hopefully it would be paid so the students can graduate while another netizen expressed in a comment a question to the former Congressman on what happened with the budget.

Another Facebook user raised a question in her comment as she stressed that how about those who graduated between the year 2013-2016.

“2013-2016 wala nbaydan ? Panu ya gli iban nga nka grad sa mu na nga year kg naga work na kg na kwa na tor kg diploma nla. Cnu ila pa baydon ? Ang ma graduate xbung nga year?. Unfair na yah,” she stated.

[2013-2016 were not paid? How about those who graduated during those years and now work and have already taken their tor (Transcript of Record) and diploma? Who will pay for them? Those who will graduate this year? That’s unfair.]
