Most Filipino love to eat street foods selling by street vendors in public places. Street foods were usually sold in a portable food cart, food booth, and food truck. These type of foods were classified as finger food or fast food.

Dirty ice cream, fish ball, banana-que, kikiam, tempura, taho, halo-halo, siomai, binatog, iskrambol, peanuts, balut, bibingka, and kwek-kwek were only some of the most popular street foods in the Philippines.

“Kwek-Kwek”

Kwek-kwek or tokneneng is a hard-boiled quail egg, which was deeply fried in an orange batter. The term “kwek-kwek” was derived from the sound of ‘quail-egg’ said quickly using our local accent.

The Facebook page “Matalinong Matsing” posted a video of a man recycling kwek-kwek, which is now making rounds in the social media. As seen on the video, the man was removing the hard-boiled egg from its old batter and moving it into a new container for cooking and reselling.
