People Gets Sick Due To Climate Change, US Doctors Says

The doctors and group of medical experts in the United States explained that people were getting sick because of environmental pollution and climate change.

On Wednesday (March 15, 2017), U.S medical groups explained that water contamination, air pollution, disease-carrying mosquitoes, and climate change were making people sick. The medical experts aim to emphasize the danger of global warming to our health.

Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health represents that most of U.S doctors want to help the lawmakers to have a deeper understanding regarding the harmful effects of climate change on upcoming years.

Climate Change

“Physicians are on the front lines and see the impacts in exam rooms. What’s worse is that the harms are felt most by children, the elderly, Americans with low-income or chronic illnesses, and people in communities of color.” Said by Mona Sarfaty, a physician, and director of the new consortium quoted by Inquirer.

The medical group reported that climate change is affecting people’s health and they were calling the attention of the Republican-dominated Congress’ members for an instant transition to a clean and renewable energy sources.

Breathing problems and heart diseases were some key warnings of the global warming usually caused by air pollution, extreme heat events, and increasing wildfire cases. Spreading of infectious diseases through disease-carrying mosquitoes were also getting worse.

Climate Change

Climate change is causing extreme weather conditions including droughts and hurricanes, which are more devastating compared to the previous calamities. Aside from destroying lives and properties, it has also a negative impact on the cognitive health of a person.

Most people were not aware that climate change was affecting their health by increasing allergies and asthma attacks.

The group urged the policymakers to immediately shift to renewable solar and wind energy. They would also contribute on reducing climate change by just walking and biking instead of driving vehicles.
