Facebook users reacted on the topic about the thick green algae in Boracay’s shore.
FACEBOOK USERS – Lots of netizens on the social media defended the existence of the green algae in the seashore of Boracay beach.
Recently, a news report posted on the Facebook page of GMA News sparked reactions and elicited various comments from the netizens on the social media.
The caption of the post goes, “Dismayado ang mga turista sa Boracay dahil sinalubong sila ng makapal na lumot sa dalampasigan.”
[Tourists were disappointed as they were welcomed by the thick algae in the seashore.]
Lots of Facebook users expressed their reactions to the post through comments.
According to one Facebook user, it is the way of the nature to heal itself from the pollutions that are caused by the human activities.
One netizen stated in a comment that the green algae are one of those which whitens the sand while another Facebook user expressed in his comment that the people are the reason why the green algae are increasing.
Another netizen commented that the green algae are “beneficial in the simplest manner because algae release oxygen as part of their metabolism”. According to the netizen, “they serve to oxygenate water”.
Another Facebook user expressed in her comment that there is really a season wherein there are are lots of algae in Boracay. She stated that when they visited the place, there were no algae.
“Normal na SA Boracay Yan.may mga month talaga na marming lumot Jan,” another netizen commented.

One netizen stated in her comment that there should be months wherein the tourists should be prevented from visiting Boracay because even nature suffers and need to rest just like the people.
According to one netizen, the best months to visit the Boracay beach is from July until November.
Meanwhile, one netizen expressed through a comment his hope that the algae would be gone when the Holy Week comes as lots of people will be visiting the beach.
Based on a previous news report, one netizen who works in a hotel in Boracay has captured in photos the green algae on the shore of the beach.
Netizen Santi Villasor Tacuban posted on his social media account two photos showing the Boracay beach.
Based on the photos, it could be seen that the water in Boracay is somewhat green-colored.
