In Celebration of  International Women’s Day, Women get free LRT-2 rides.

Manila, Philippines – As women all over the world celebrate the International Women’s Day, the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line-2 is giving free rides to women.

In a recent news report of ABS-CBN news, In celebration of Women’s Month, women can ride the LRT for free.

The good news was announced by LRT Spokesperson, LRTA Corporate Board Secretary Hernando T. Cabrera in his official Twitter account.

Cabrera announced that Women will have a free ride from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

According to the report, this was the result of a partnership by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).

PCW has reportedly partnered with different government agencies to treat all Filipina in celebration of the International Women’s Day.

Under the proclamation No. 277, S. 1988, March is declared as Women’s History Month. In the Philippines, it is often referred to by the government as National Women’s Month and it represents the time of the year when women’s advancement become most important in the public consciousness.

March 8 was declared as National Women’s Day by virtue of Republic Act 6949 or “An act to Declare March Eight of Every Year as a Working Special Holiday Tobe known as National Women’s Day.”

International women’s day is the time where women who have faced myriad struggles in their lives and to women who are in the position to lift each other up and inspire each other, it is a special day that commemorates the day women took a stand to secure equal rights.
