Pres. Duterte hits back on a report of Human Rights Watchdog.
DUTERTE HITS – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte reacted to a recent report of Human Rights Watchdog stating that his “first six months has been a human rights calamity for the Philippines”.
The increasing number of killings in the country has sparked lots of questions and even raised the allegation of extrajudicial killings happening in PH – a matter that sparked concerns not just within the country but as well as outside the nation.
Recently, a news report on Phil Star Global entailing the response of Pres. Duterte to a report stating that the country has suffered a “human rights calamity” under his first months in service broke in.
Based on the news report, speaking in Davao City, the 71-year-old President said that killing those people who have committed crimes “is not a crime against humanity”.

“The criminals have no humanity God damn it,” Pres. Duterte told the media during the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway groundbreaking based on the report.
Furthermore, the news also stated that the report of the HRW, which is based in New York, is tagged by the Palace as “thoughtless and irresponsible”.
According to Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella, the campaign against illegal drugs is a move that could safeguard the people from a “modern-day evil”.
“Is it a human rights calamity when more than 1.1 million drug pushers and addicts have voluntarily submitted themselves to authorities?” the Presidential spokesperson said based on the report.
Moreover, Abella also raised a question if it is “human rights calamity” to put up drug rehabilitation facilities wherein drug patients can be catered for treatment.
Meanwhile, according to the news report, the chief legal adviser of the President, Salvador Panelo, reacted on the “License to Kill” title of the HRW report saying it should have been “Licensed to Lie”.
Panelo also expressed that the accusations towards Pres. Duterte have already been existent since the time that he was still the mayor of Davao City, however, charges were not filed against him according to the report.
The allegation of the existence of EJK in the face of war on drugs campaign has continued to sparked news headlines across the nation and even internationally.
Based on another news report, over 7,000 drug suspects lost their lives since Pres. Duterte took the presidential seat last June 30, 2016.
It is also stated that even before Mr. Duterte assumed office, he has already the desire to minimize the crime rate of the country in his six-year term as the President.
