SPO3 – Retired police officer SPO3 Arthur Lascañas revealed the reason why he denied the claim of Edgar Matobato regarding his alleged link to the Davao Death Squad.
The recent claims of SPO3 Lascañas against Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has sparked lots of news report. Based on a report in GMA News Online, the retired cop has said that he was “forced” to deny the allegation of Matobato regarding his alleged link to DDS for the safety of his loved ones as he has stated in a 12-page affidavit.
“I was forced to deny what Matobato said, even if most of it was true, because I was afraid for the safety and security of my loved ones in Davao City,” the retired cop said based on the news report.
Furthermore, the retired cop claimed that the self-confessed ‘hitman’ “was only a foot solider and had limited knowledge”. SPO3 Lascañas claimed that Pres. Duterte, way back when he was still the mayor of Davao City, has paid his group for the “killing of numerous men and women”.

According to the news report, Lascañas executed his 12-page affidavit on the 19th of February – a day before a media briefing wherein he laid down his claims against Pres. Duterte was held.
It was the office of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV who gave the media people copies of the affidavit executed by the retired cop.
Based on a previous news report, the retired police officer has also accused the President of being the person behind the death of broadcaster Jun Pala. According to Lascañas, Mayor Duterte ordered his group to kill Pala and paid them P3 million.
He said that Mr. Duterte was angry towards Pala that time for he attacks him in his radio station every day. Reportedly, the self-confessed ‘hitman’ Edgar Matobato felt happy with the claims of the retired cop.
