Abella On Duterte’s Trips To 12 Nations: ‘Incurred about P277 million’

Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella revealed the expenses of the trip of Pres. Duterte to 12 nations.

ABELLA – Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella revealed in a briefing the estimated amount spent for the trips of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to 12 countries.

Recently, a news report entailing the amount spent on the visit of the President to other nations broke in. Based on a report in GMA News Online, Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said that around P277 million was incurred for the trips of Pres. Duterte.

Speaking in a briefing, the Presidential Spokesman stressed that the President was able to go for seven trips which made him visit 12 nations since he assumed the highest position in the country last year.

However, on the other side of the million spendings, Abella stressed that Pres. Duterte’s million spendings was able to gain billions of investments for the country.

According to the report, the Presidential Spokesman noted that the Chief Executive’s visit to China was able to produce US$4 billion in investments and a hundred thousand employment opportunities through 20 deals.

Furthermore, Abella also pointed out that the Japan trip of Pres. Duterte has resulted in an investment deal worth around US$1.85 billion.

Aside from China and Japan, the 71-year-old Philippine President had visited Indonesia, Singapore, Laos, New Zealand, Brunei, Cambodia, Peru, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam based on the report.

Since he assumed office, Pres. Duterte has been visiting the neighboring countries. Reportedly, he has met groups of Filipinos working abroad during his visits.

One of the official visits of the President to another nation which sparked lots of headlines was his trip to China.

The relationship of the country with China has undeniably been challenged by the territorial dispute before Pres. Duterte had his official visit to the Chinese nation.

Based on a previous news report, the President’s visit to China went well. It has even yielded billions worth of investment projects for the country.
