DUTERTE HITS – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte reacted on the message of Colombia’s former leader Cesar Gaviria to him.

Reportedly, in an opinion article published in New York Times, Colombian ex-leader Cesar Gaviria warned Pres. Duterte regarding the heavy-handed approach in dealing with the drug problems.

Based on a previous news report, he emphasized that the battle against illegal drugs “cannot be won by armed forces and law enforcement agencies alone”.

Based on a recent news report in Inquirer, the Philippine President has reacted to the warnings of the ex-leader of Colombia. Speaking during a business forum held in Davao City, Pres. Duterte emphasized that he is not stupid.

He regarded the ex-leader of Colombia as ‘stupid’ for saying that he is ‘committing the same mistake’ committed by him. “We cannot, never be on the same mistake because I am not stupid; you are,” Pres. Duterte said based on the report.

Furthermore, Pres. Duterte expressed that it is only possible for him to commit the same mistake that the ex-Colombian leader did if he is “as stupid as” him. “But unfortunately, I am not,” the 71-year-old President said.

According to the news report, Pres. Duterte said that the United States helped the Colombia and they spent billions of money as the country is the source of illegal drugs. He added that the people were bought by that money that’s why the drug trade did not continue.

The President also raised a question on what help has the United States offered to the Philippines aside from suggesting for his “prosecution in the international court of justice criminal court”.

The 71-year-old Chief Executive also stressed that the United States even want to put him behind the bars. He also emphasized that the first to provide a rehabilitation facility in the country was China.

Furthermore, according to the news report, the Philippine President also emphasized the difference in the drug problem faced by Colombia and the Philippines. He noted that PH has metamphetamine hydrochloride which can cause more harm.
