June 6 & 12, 2025 Declared as Regular Holidays in Philippines, According to Malacañang Palace

Malacañang Palace has officially declared June 6 and June 12, 2025, as regular holidays throughout the Philippines.

June 6 will be a non-working holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, one of the most important celebrations in the Muslim calendar. It commemorates the act of faith by Prophet Abraham, who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.

The date of the celebration follows the 10th day of Zhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. For the Muslim community, Eid’l Adha is a time of prayer, sacrifice, and sharing blessings.

Regular Holidays

“Following the 1446 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended that June 6, 2025, Friday, be declared a national holiday, in observance of Eid’l Adha,” according to Proclamation No. 727 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos recommended the declaration of June 6 as a holiday based on the 1446 Hijrah calendar. This recommendation was formalized through Proclamation No. 727, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and approved by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Meanwhile, June 12 remains a regular holiday in celebration of Philippine Independence Day, marking the country’s freedom from over 300 years of Spanish colonization.

Regular Holidays

This day is remembered annually through various ceremonies and activities that emphasize the nation’s journey to independence. For the Filipino people, June 12 is a symbol of unity and the struggle for freedom.

Both holidays give Filipinos a chance to celebrate or take time off for family bonding, prayer, and rest.

These back-to-back holidays offer a meaningful break while honoring two very important occasions in the Philippine calendar.
