The latest list of alleged drug protectors of Pres. Duterte includes the name of Sen. De Lima.
DUTERTE – Sen. Leila De Lima is included in Pres. Rodrigo ‘Digong’ Duterte’s latest list of government officials who are alleged illegal drug protectors.
Sen. De Lima is a staunch critic of Pres. Duterte’s war against illegal drugs. In the previous months, their surnames have been in the news headlines as they exchange intense statements.
Reportedly, it was Pres. Duterte who publicized the allegation about Sen. De Lima’s affair with her former driver-bodyguard Ronnie Dayan. Dayan is the alleged ‘bagman’ of the lady senator who is now facing another allegation that she is involved in the alleged drug trade in the New Bilibid.
Sen. De Lima, in a previous news report, has admitted that she had a romantic relationship with Dayan before but they were officially over when she ran for a spot in the Senate.
However, the lady senator has continually denied the allegation that she is involved in the drug trade in the national penitentiary. On recent hearings held, Dayan and alleged drug suspect Kerwin Espinosa had pinned down the Senator in their testimonies.
Still, the lady senator continuously denies the drug allegations thrown to her. Recently, a news report entailed that she received an international award from a famous political magazine being one of the 100 Foreign Policy Global Thinkers recognized.
She was honored in Washington, D.C. for “standing up to an extremist leader” and she was included in the ‘Challengers’ category.
In a recent news report in Inquirer, it is stated that Pres. Duterte has dismissed the award given to the lady senator as a glorification for a politician who faces a deep trouble.
Based on the news report, the 71-year-old President expressed that the lady senator is included in his latest list of officials of the government who are protectors of the trade of illegal drugs in the country.
The report also entailed that the Chief Executive said that the country, for years, has been a narco-state and that the problem’s extent would not have been dug up if he has not become the President of the country.
He also emphasized that he discovered that there are mayors, barangay chairpersons, congressmen, and governors who are involved in the drug trade the time he began to ‘squeeze’ everyone.
The Chief Executive also expressed that he cries every night as the people ‘have been corrupted’.
He admitted in a speech at the Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas that rehabilitating drug patients that could reach up to four million by his count was not easy.
Furthermore, the Chief Executive emphasized that the campaign against illegal drugs would still go on until the last day of his term as President of the country.
