Duterte Embraces Woman After Asking For A Selfie, During His State Visit To Singapore
President Rodrigo Duterte embraced a woman who asked for a selfie with him during his speech before the Filipino community in Singapore.
The president fly to Singapore for his state visit. He also visited the Filipino community and had his speech on Friday (December 16, 2016). Duterte speaks in front of a large number of audiences filled with his usual folk, informal statements, and humor punctuated by wild cheers and applause from the crowd.
The more the audience approved of what Duterte was saying, the more he was encouraged. Mr. Duterte’s speech was colored by more than usual profanity it seems to the president was on abroad.
When Duterte speaks profanity, people egged him even more. Even when he reiterated his claims that he personally shot and killed criminals still the audience roared in applause. The president said in his words that it’s not a crime to say “I will kill you if you destroy my country.”
The president launched into the usual themes of drugs and support for the police on his war on drugs and the crusade against corruption. Since, Duterte took the presidency last June 30, 2016, he also mentioned his war on drugs, so making a speech without his anti-illegal drug campaign could become a news headline.
During his speech on the Singapore before the Filipino Community, a woman on the crowd was lifted by Duterte’s aides on stage. The woman asked President Duterte for a selfie but the president has surprisingly embraced the unidentified woman.
After her selfie with the president, she smiled and waved from the stage. Thousands of Filipinos in Singapore have welcomed and greeted Duterte with cheer.
Meanwhile, an orchid in Singapore has been named after President Duterte. (Dendrobium Sonia Beauty x Dendrobium Urmila Nandey) was named as Dendrobium Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The orchid was named after the president due to their tradition of naming an orchid after the head of state visited their country.
The orchid was seen by Duterte when he visited the National Orchid Garden. The orchid is a “compact, robust and vigorous hybrid” with violet-red petals, and sepals.
