Viral: Duterte’s Kitchen’s First Donor Is A 64-Year-Old Vegetable Vendor

A post about the first donor of Duterte’s Kitchen went viral in social media.

VIRAL – The online community has been hooked by a social media post about the first donor of Duterte’s Kitchen.

Undeniably, one of the pressing problems in the country nowadays is poverty. The Philippines has been on a battle against poverty for years already. Many families are affected by it.

Poverty does not just stop with having no money to spend. It can also lead to several other factors like homelessness, failure to send the kids to school, and hunger.

Recently, reports entail that Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) has launched Duterte’s Kitchen in Cubao, Quezon City for the benefit of those who are experiencing from hunger most especially the street children.

Based on its official page in Facebook, the Duterte’s Kitchen offers food for the street kids and for the children who often times cannot go to school as they have no money for their snacks.

It is also open for those people who went to Manila with just an amount good for their fare, for families who could not eat three times daily, for the street workers who worked under the sun the whole day, and for the ordinary workers who chose not to eat for them to be able to bring home their salary full.

Recently, one post in Duterte’s Kitchen’s Facebook page went viral as it introduced its first donor. According to the caption of the post, Nanay Angelita Astor, a 64-year-old vegetable vendor near the Kitchen, is the first person who gave a donation to the kitchen.

“Noong hindi pa kilala itong Duterte’s Kitchen, madalas ko na rin nakakasalamuha ang mga batang pumupunta at kumakain dito… Kaya madalas ‘ung kasangkapan na sinasahog sa pagluluto ng lugaw ay sa akin na binibili. Minsan naman binibigay ko na lang bilang tulong na rin. said the generous vendor.

[At first, this Duterte’s Kitchen is not yet known. Usually, I would get to meet the kids who come and eat here… Usually, the ingredients used in making a porridge is bought from me. Sometimes, I would just give it as a help.]

“Masarap sa pakiramdam ‘ung magbigay lalo pa ngayon hindi lang bawang at sibuyas ‘ung maari kung ibahagi. Makakapagbigay na rin ako ng iba pang gulay na maari nilang ulamin,” Nanay Angelita added according to the post.

[It feels good that I can share more than just garlic and onion. I can already give vegetables that they can have as viand.]

The caption also entailed that Nanay Angelita proved that if we will help one another, we can feed the street children with other foods aside from porridge. The post has already reached 3, 289 shares as of Monday and the commentaries entail praises for the generous vendor.
