Shirley Kuan is no longer the manager of Bea Alonzo
Veteran talent manager Shirley Kuan has officially resigned and cut professional ties with A-list Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo.
The separation marks the end of their professional partnership, which began in November 2020 after Bea left her longtime agency, Star Magic. For two decades, since the start of her acting career, Bea was managed by ABS-CBN’s talent management company, her former home network.
However, six years ago, the actress made one of the biggest decisions of her career: she transferred to GMA Network. It is known to many showbiz fans that years ago, network rivalry was a prominent issue. Contract artists could not easily cross over to the rival network.
This was probably one of the reasons why Bea’s decision to switch networks created a loud buzz in the entertainment industry back then. Amid the negative reactions she received, especially the accusation that she was ungrateful, Shirley rallied behind her.
There were several instances in which Shirley Kuan, as a manager of Bea Alonzo, would vocally defend the actress from certain issues, such as the issue that surfaced between her and talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz, as well as the issue that surfaced in the movie 1521.
After six years, Shirley has decided to end her professional relationship with Bea, based on the article by entertainment writer Alex Brosas in the Daily Tribune.
Last week, Shirley Kuan resigned as Bea Alonzo’s manager. This development occurred just over a month after Bea’s civil wedding to billionaire businessman Vincent Co last July 13.
To recall, amid the rumored wedding that was supposed to happen in Spain, Shirley was asked about this, but she said that she had no idea.
After the wedding last month, when the talent manager was asked again, she said that she know nothing about it, and what she knew was what the public also knew.
