Duterte On Marcos: ‘I was keeping track of his movements’

Pres. Duterte admitted that he ordered Supt. Marcos’ reinstatement as PNP CIDG Chief.

DUTERTE – Pres. Rodrigo ‘Digong’ Duterte admitted that the reinstatement of Supt. Marvin Marcos as the chief of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 8 was ordered by him.

One of the issues that have alarmed the government and the populace is the case of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. who died while he is in the custody of the authorities.

It has undeniably sparked a lot of headlines and reactions from the people. There were also senators who believed that there was premeditation in the incident. In a previous news report, Sen. Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson has even raised several points regarding the death of Espinosa.

In a recent news report in ABS-CBN News, it is stated that the chief of the police team that has taken the life of Espinosa while he was in the custody of the authorities was Supt. Marvin Marcos.

Based on the news report, it was Pres. Duterte who ordered PNP Chief Dir. Gen. Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa to reinstate Marcos as the head of the Region 8 PNP-CIDG so he could monitor the activities of the cop.

In an interview with Ina Andolong of CNN on Friday night, Pres. Duterte admitted about ordering PNP Chief Dela Rosa to reinstate Marcos as he is part of the ‘investigative job’.

Furthermore, Pres. Duterte emphasized, “Marcos, positive. Kasi I was keeping track of his movements. Alisin mo ako doon, mawala bigla ang… Mawala lahat. Hindi ko masundan.”

[Marcos went out positive. I was keeping track of his movements. If he will be removed from the post, everything will be gone. I won’t be able to follow him.]

Regarding the question on what will be done to Marcos now that he turned out to be positive, the 71-year-old President assured allowing him to maintain his ‘right to be heard’. However, Pres. Duterte also affirmed that he has to ‘face the charges’.
