The photo of Senator Leila De Lima protesting against the burial of Marcos at the “Libingan ng mga Bayani” draws flak from netizens.
The burial of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos becomes one of the most controversial issues in the country that caught the attention of many Filipinos. Marcos was buried at the Libingan on November 18, 2016, in a sneaky manner.
Filipinos were surprised at the sudden decision of Marcos family to immediately bury the former president. The ‘surprise’ burial of Marcos draw disappointments and negative feedbacks from the netizens.
Many people and human rights groups are opposing the burial of Marcos’ remains at the ‘Heroes Cemetery’ because of the alleged human right violation of the late dictator during martial law.
Martial law victims and various human rights groups conduct rallies and protests to stop Marcos hero’s burial. They also filed a petition to the Supreme Court to prevent the burial even though President Rodrigo Duterte has already allowed the burial.
Meanwhile, a photo of Senator Leila De Lima wearing a placard with the written words “Never Again” and a photo of Marcos. The photo was suspected taken during a rally for Marcos burial. De Lima might join the rally in People Power Monument which opposing the late dictator’s hero’s burial.
De Lima’s photo receives criticism from netizens citing her position as a lawmaker. “Nagdesisyon na ang supreme court but you don’t want to respect it! No wonder all that people suffered the ferocities of Marshall Law. Because you are not following the law,” said by Veronica Tualla.
Netizens slammed the Senator on their comments due to the allegations against her. De Lima was linked to the illegal drug proliferation at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) involving her former driver and bodyguard “Ronnie Dayan” who admitted they had an affair.
