PNP Chief Dela Rosa Declared the Philippines Under Terror Alert Level 3

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa declared Philippines is under terror alert level 3, after bombing attempt near U.S Embassy.

On Thursday (December 01, 2016), the two suspects who left an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the U.S Embassy were already arrested by the authorities but the PNP chief raises the terror alert at level 3.

Mobile checkpoints and Oplan Sita will sue their operation as the alert level was raised, according to the PNP chief. Dela Rosa explained that he cannot assure that the incident will never happen again but PNP and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are doing their best to assure the security in the country.

Dela Rosa said that PNP has already arrested the two suspects who left the explosive device near the embassy. They were identified as Rashid Kilala and Jiaher Guinar who confessed that they intend to attack Luneta but transferred near the embassy on Roxas Boulevard.

The suspects failed to accomplish their planned attack when the authorities successfully defused the explosive device. The two suspects were part of the alliance of terror groups called “Ansar Al-Khalifa” including Maute Group.

The PNP chief explained that the suspects wanted to gain recognition and to receive fund from Islamic State. But they have failed to mislead the authorities from Maute fighters in Lanao Del Sur.

Illegal possession of firearms and explosives, Conspiracy in committing terrorism are the charges that will be filed against the suspects. The device, car and phone that supposed to use to trigger the bomb explosion were seized from Guinar and now under the possession of the authorities.

The three other suspects for the bombing incident were now chasing by the police force and suspected hiding in Marawi City, according to Dela Rosa.
