September 11, 1917 – In Sarrat, Ilocos Norte province, Ferdinand Edralin Marcos was born.

December 30, 1965 – He was inaugurated as the 10th Philippine President.

September 21, 1972 – Proclamation No. 1081 which imposes martial law nationwide was signed by Marcos. The Martial law prohibits incoming overseas calls, shuts down mass media, canceled flights, and curfew is strictly enforced. Marcos subsequently issues General Order in 1972 which transfer all the powers to the president.

January 17, 1981 – Proclamation No. 2045 which lift the implementation of martial law ahead of the first papal visit of Pope John Paul II in February was signed by Marcos.

February 22, 1986 – Marcos was overthrown by millions of Filipinos converge on Edsa.

Hero’s Burial

February 25, 1986 – FM and his family together with other government officials flee Malacañang for Clark in Pampanga before going to Hawaii.
