Marcos Family, AFP Must Be Cited In Contempt For Pushing Marcos Burial At The “Libingan ng mga Bayani”
Marcos family and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) must be cited in disrespecting Supreme Court’s decision over Ferdinand Marcos burial at LNMB.
On Friday (November 18, 2016), Atty. Edre Olalia, Secretary-General of the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL) said that the burial for the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the “Libingan ng mga Bayani” requires judicial process and still needs the final decision from the Supreme Court.
NUPL was one the petitioner against Marcos hero’s burial. The petition case to stop Marcos burial at the LNMB was already dismissed by the higher court last week, with 9 are in favor and 5 are not on Marcos burial. The high court also cited President Duterte’s approval on Marcos burial.
The preparation for the burial of Marcos was temporarily restrained by the high court as they issued a status quo ante order (SQAO). The high court was also asked by a two separate urgent motions to reissue the SQAO pending the finality of the decision.
