FVR Still Considers Self As Part Of Duterte Team Despite Resignation

After resigning as Philippines’ special envoy to China, FVR clarifies he still considers self as part of the Duterte team.

Former President Fidel Valdez Ramos (FVR) clarifies his decision of resigning as the special envoy of the Philippines to China.

Ramos’ resignation is four months after his appointment by President Rodrigo Duterte as special envoy to China, where he was sent to deal with Beijing regarding the issue on the disputed territory on the West Philippine Sea.

Ramos was directed by Duterte to make discussions with China in connection to the tension between neighbor countries in the disputed island in the West Philippine Sea (also South China Sea).

According to FVR, he resigned when President Duterte arrived from his state visit of four days in China last week.

Ramos believes that the officials in the Philippine government can already continue what he has started in dealing with China.

“I’ve done my job to… break the ice and to help restore the ties of goodwill and friendship”, said Former President FVR.
