The proposal for a P2,000 increase on Social Security System (SSS) pension has taken a step higher after the concerned house committee signaled a thumbs up.
The Committee on Government Enterprises and Privatization of the House of Representatives has approved the proposal for a P2,000 increase on Social Security System (SSS) pension.
The committee approved the motion for the omnibus approval of the 15 bills for the pension hike filed by Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Zarate who is one of the authors of the bill.
Zarate said he hoped for the proposed legislation to increase the pension of senior citizens would be approved by the 17th Congress in the soonest possible time.
The proposed measure on P2,000 across-the-board increase in pension for 2.1 million pensioners was vetoed by former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III in belief that it would grossly affect the actuarial life of the SSS.
