DepEd suspends public school teacher for asking a Television from parents.
Public school teacher Mary Ann Villanueva has been suspended by the Department of Education (DepEd) for allegedly asking and receiving television from the parents of her students.

Inquirer reported that Chief administrative officer Antonio Casangkapan said that Mary Ann Villanueva would be preventively suspend for 90 days while the investigation is going on. Villanueva is a music teacher at Juan Luna Elementary School in Sampaloc, Manila.
Villanueva was charged pursuant to Section 9 of the revised rules of Procedure of the Department of Education in administrative cases.
“Accordingly, you are hereby formally charged pursuant to section 9 (g) of the revised rules of procedure of the Department of Education in [an] administrative case, for gross misconduct prejudicial to the best interest of service,” DepEd-NCR director IV Ponciano Menguito said.
According to Inquirer, Villanueva asked the parents of students to donate 32-inch TV set with speakers. She also requested a foldable iron ladder from another parents whose children also did not pass her subject. In another complaint, the teacher allegedly charged her students for photocopies.
In a previous interview, Villanueva admitted that she received TV and ladder, but stressed that the items were given voluntarily. She also insisted that it was the students who decided to pay for the photocopies.
