In an interview with GMA-7’s Susan Enrique, the chief commissioner said that Dulay visited her office on Tuesday, but people didn’t notice his arrival as he is not known to many. She added that the meeting lasted for an hour.

“Meet and greet. Kasi di ba ho, everyone is asking who he is. Also, he wants to find out general things. Nothing specific,” she was quoted saying.

The incoming president earlier identified the country’s main tax collector as one of the most corrupt government agencies. He also eyes to abolish the bureau.

Several reports online also said that the employees are planning for mass resignation to protest against the incoming administration. Henares earlier admitted that she was saddened by Duterte’s remarks.

Kim Henares denied the alleged mass resignation on the first day that Duterte will assume the presidency.

“For the first four days, medyo ano ako. Noong pa-Friday na, may mga tauhan na alalang-alala na ganyan noh. Sagot ko sa kanila, ‘Dapat matuwa pa nga kayo eh. Ibig sabihin, kapag ma-abolish ang BIR, hindi na tayo magbabayad ng buwis,” she said in jest.

BIR Public Information and Education Division chief Remayri De La Cruz also denied the reports and issued a statement, saying that the BIR employees will not resign in response to Duterte’s statement on tax agency.
