Leni Robredo’s supporters slam Rodrigo Duterte over contradicting statements.
Supporters of Leni Robredo criticized the incoming president Rodrigo Duterte over his contradicting statements. This was after he revealed the reason why he doesn’t want to give a cabinet position to Robredo.
On Tuesday, Dutete said that he doesn’t want to offer a cabinet post to the outgoing Camarines Sur representative because he might hurt Robredo’s closest vice presidential rival Senator “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. whom he considered as his friend.
“Alam mo, wala ako talaga. I am non-committal ako diyan. You know why? Kilala ko si Bongbong Marcos, I do not want to hurt him. Si Leni, she should understand that she belongs to the opposite side. There is no law that exists that is a compelling reason for her to be a member of the Cabinet,” he was quoted by GMA news.
Duterte earlier said that he doesn’t want to give Robredo a position in the cabinet since he doesn’t fully know her and she comes from the other political party.
The Mayor also said that he wants to pay back first his debt of gratitude to people who played a huge role in his campaign, noting that he will be selecting cabinet members from his party.
His statement received negative reactions from the netizens because it allegedly contradicts his previous remarks.
Last month, Quiboloy’s spokes person Mike Abe revealed that Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader and Duterte’s long-time friend Pastor Apolo Quiboloy was apparently hurt by the selection of cabinet members since he was not consulted.
According to Duterte, he will not allow his friends to interfere with his decision in the government.
“Let me be very clear: my friendship with my friends ends where the interest of the country begins. I would as much as possible make you happy if you are my friend, but I will not allow anybody to color my decisions in government. From now on, it is always the interest of the people of the Republic of the Philippines that counts, period,” he said, according to Philstar.
Quiboloy already issued a statement, saying that he understands why Duterte became unreachable after the election. He also clarified that there was no rift between them and he still supports Dutete.
