Police Shots Suspects, Rewarded by the incoming Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña
Police shots suspects who held up passengers of a public utility jeepney in Cebu City. The incoming Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña handed over the reward money worth P20,000.
PO3 Julius Regis on May 17 has pursued robbers while off duty. The suspects were identified as Arman dela Pena and Nesto Benavente. However, the third suspect was able to escape.
“Patay singkwenta. Kon dili singko. Pero tungod kay off duty ka, atong doblehon. Dies. Duha sila, bale bente, ha. Congratulations,” Osmeña said.
Which means, that if suspects were killed, it is worth 50 (referring to thousands worth), if not, then 5. Since the officer is off duty, then let’s make it doubled, making it 10 and because two suspects were shot, it becomes 20, the incoming Mayor then congratulates the police man.
“Actually sir, wa man ko mag-after sa reward. Ako sang Mama, Mama gyud. Luoy ko sa tiguwang,” the police officer told reporters saying he was not after the reward.
Osmeña promised that he would give P50, 000 as reward to officers who will kill drug lords, robbers and other criminals. Regis on the other hand, had become emotional when he received the cash reward.
Osmeña said that he is not interested in killing people but only took cognizance of the fact that these people don’t mind killing others. “So, I’m telling them, if you were to kill people, we will kill you. If you don’t want us to kill you, then don’t kill anyone. And don’t do the crime here,” he added.
The incoming Mayor did not revealed where the reward money came from, but he clarified that this is not from the government.
